Many people in the church today are still asking the question, is tithing for us today? Many teach that tithing was under the Mosaic law and therefore was done away with under the new covenant. What they misunderstand is that tithing is not a law but a spiritual principle established by God before the law was given. It is as old as the principle of seed time and harvest. God has given us the principle of tithing as a means of expressing his love for us. When we get involved with this principle it connects the believer to heavens resources which are laid up for us in the spirit realm.
"Bring all the tithes (the whole tenth of your income) into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now by it, says the Lord of hosts, if Iwill not open the windows of heaven for you and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." Mal 3:10 AMP Now, what the believer must begin to understand is what God designed the tithe to do for one who operates in it. MostChristians believe that the tithe only brings to them money, but it is much much more than that. What the tithe brings to the believer is supernatural wisdom, insight, and opportunity that comes from living under an open heaven. It's having new doors opening up for you continually, it's having insight into the secret things of God and knowing things no one else can know. It's the ability to make the right decisions in times when the world is in total confusion. Yes, child of God; all these things and more will take place in your life every day because you tithe. Tithing is Gods way of keeping you in his blessings. He's getting things to you, not taking from you!! Through it (the tithe) He now has the right to defend what's rightfully yours. However, when you don't operate in this principle you rob Him of the opportunity to bless you.
Mal 3:11-12 AMP" And I will rebuke the devourer [insects and plagues] for your sakes and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground, neither shall your vine drop its fruit before the time in the field, says the Lord of hosts. 12 And all nations shall call you happy and blessed, for you shall be a land of delight, says the Lord of hosts."
So with me beloved, the question is not can I afford to tithe? Rather can Iafford to not be blessed.
