Deliverance Family Worship Center (DFWC) is a multiracial, spirit filled church which began as a vision from God given to Pastors Perry and Angela Walker. DFWC's first service was held on Sunday, January 2, 2000 in the Earnestine Boone-Watson Community Center. The first service was held with only two families present including the Pastor's Family. DFWC's mantle is 'Deliverance and Restoration'.
The congregation membership grew quickly. On the first Sunday of April 2000, DFWC moved to a storefront at 324 South Main Street. Two years later, in July 2002, DFWC purchased a church building located at 403 Scott Street. In 2005, DFWC purchased an additional four acres of land adjoining the church and began construction in June 2008 on their newest facility, a 19,500 sq ft. Family Life Center at 406 Scott Street. On June 19, 2009 we dedicated the Family Life Center to the Service of the Lord.
The mission of DFWC is "Winning Souls, Transforming Lives, Restoring Generations, Developing Followers into Leaders".
The vision of DFWC is by the power, and the anointing of God the Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through the teaching, preaching, and living of the gospel to fulfill the scripture inspired by God in Isaiah 58:6-8:
To loose the bands of wickedness, and to undo the heavy burdens on the lives of millions. To see the oppressed go free, and to destroy every yoke of bondage by the anointing of the Holy Ghost. That the people may walk in the true abundance and liberty, which is rightfully ours in Christ.
To deal bread to the hungry, shelter the poor and cast out, and to clothe the naked. Presenting to a lost and hopeless world the mystery of God which is Christ in you the hope of glory.
OUR STATEMENT OF BELIEFS
We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of the living God. He was crucified, buried, and on the third day He rose from the dead.
We believe that when one accepts Christ as the Lord of their life in accordance to Romans 10:9-10 that he or she is a new creation. Old things are passed away, and all things become new.
We believe in the indwelling and the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.
We believe that the Bible is the written Word of God.
We believe in bringing Tithes and Offerings into the church. Giving and caring for the poor, sick, homeless, and less fortunate.
We believe in miracles and divine healings in the name of Jesus and that it is the will of God for all to be healed.
We believe in the rapture of the Church, that the dead in Christ shall rise first, and that we who remain shall be caught up together with them to meet the Lord in the air.
We believe in water baptism as immersion in water in the name of the Lord Jesus.
We believe in heaven and hell and that where one spends eternity after death is based on the decision he makes to accept or reject the finished work of Christ.
